Experience the wonder of early 19th century American architecture and craftsmanship as you tour the Granger Homestead, erected in 1816. Constructed by local builders and craftsmen over a two-year period at a total cost of $13,000, this Federal-style house features beautifully detailed carved moldings and mantelpieces in its restored period rooms. The furnishings on display include many original pieces owned by four generations of the Granger family. The tour also features information on the Granger Place School, a private girls' high school that occupied the site between 1876 and 1906.
Your guide will share with you many fascinating details about the Grangers, about the collections on display, and about the special events taking place on the grounds throughout the visiting season.
In addition to viewing the Homestead's period rooms, you are invited to spend a few minutes exploring the exhibit in the Upstairs Gallery.
